What are these exchanges all about?
This exchange all started when I was browsing http://www.proteacher.net/ and I came across a group of teachers from the USA who were talking about a letter exchange. It peaked my interest and I started to dig for more information. It turns out that these lovely teachers had read Chicka Chicka Boom Boom to their classes and had their students decorate 26 copies of an assigned letter of the alphabet. When these letters were all decorated the teacher then mailed one decorated letter and a note to the other 25 participating classes. At the end of the exchange all 26 classes involved had a complete alphabet that they could display however they liked. I wanted to participate, but it was only available to teachers and classes in the continental USA. In the Fall of 2012 I decided that if I could round up enough people that I would start my own letter exchange in Canada.
The fall 2012 event was a huge success with teachers from 3 Provinces and 1 Territory participating in our exchange.
The fall 2013 event had so much interest that we had to open up two events for a total of 52 classes across Canada participating!
The fall 2014 event was also very popular with 78 (!!!) classes across Canada participating!
The fall 2015 event saw 104 classes!
The fall 2016 event remained strong at 104 classes!
